Legally mandated by the Ministry of Education in 2007, EU was founded to address critical issues affecting the surrounding communities in the Horn of Africa. Our university is located in northern Somaliland, situated in northwestern Somalia, between the coordinates 08°00′ – 11°30′ parallel north of the equator and 42°30′ – 49°00′ meridian east of Greenwich. EU is bordered by Djibouti to the west, Ethiopia to the south, and the Puntland region of Somalia to the east.
